Dental Health Procedures
Smile costs nothing and makes people around you feel special; it’s also a powerful tool you can use both in personal life and in business. Unfortunately, some people are not able to use this tool as they are embarrassed because of their discolored, poorly spaced or yellow teeth. Poor dental health can also create psychological problems, when the person is afraid to smile openly and is therefore considered unfriendly orand too shy. However, with all the possibilities available, dental health is a possibility for everyone.
Teeth whitening
There are two kinds of teeth whitening products: some contain peroxide (a chemical that actually bleaches your teeth and changes their natural color), while others remove the stains from the surface using more efficient abrasives (most toothpastes). The effects of the products from the second latter group are, therefore, not as powerful and obvious as those of the formersecond one.
You can achieve have bleaching by purchasing an over-the-counter product or through your dentist. It’s strongly recommended to talk to your dentist before using any product with peroxide, as it can be quite unpleasant if you have exposed roots or sensitive teeth. Another detail you should think about before bleaching is the presence of any fillings, crowns or veneers, as they are not likely to bleach, or will probably bleach unevenly, which can result in certain areas of different colors.
Besides, this method doesn’t produce permanent results. So, to maintain the color you achieved you will have to do it on a regular basis. Another way you can go is laser dental whitening, as the results are more permanent.
Dental Bonding
Dental Bonding is one of the most commonly performed dental procedures; it usually takes one visit to the doctor. The dentist will apply some tooth-colored resin to the surface of your tooeeth; this is done to cover any imperfections, such as cracks, spaces or stains. The next step is application of bonding material and its hardening with chemical solution or light. Some cases require several layers of resin, each one being bonded in the way described above. The final step is polishing.
Teeth Veneers
Teeth veneers are used to cover teeth that are chipped, crooked or stained, as well as to hide very obvious spaces and gaps. Veneers look like very thin shells made individually to fit the needs of every patient. They are made of porcelain, acrylic, or composite resin and can completely change the surface and shape of your teeth, if necessary. Teeth veneers made of porcelain look better than the other kinds, and last longer, but they are also more expensive.
Dental Reshaping
If the shape or contour of your teeth is not satisfactory, you can have these parameters remedied. This is done by removing some enamel from somethe parts of the tooth (the sides and the surface). Dental reshaping also helps in dealing with grooves, ground-down edges and signs or wear and tear.
Crown Lengthening
This is one of the most popular dental procedures if you teeth are healthy in general, but some corrections canneed to be made. If ayour tooth seems too short, and this is obvious, crown lengthening can be performed. In this case an operation called gingivectomy is performed, which is a minor surgery that involves trimming of the gum and bone to expose a bit more of the tooth and make it look longer. In some cases it makes your teeth look more even and your smile – more attractive.
